Equipment

  • High-speed blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Tall glasses for serving

Ingredients

WET INGREDIENTS

  • 3/4 to 1 cup 180–240 ml unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 3–4 ice cubes optional

MIX-INS

  • 1 large banana about 120g, sliced and frozen
  • 2 Medjool dates pitted
  • 1 tbsp 10g chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon plus more for topping

Instructions

  1. Pit the Medjool dates. If they feel dry or stiff, soak them in a little warm water for 5 minutes so they break down easily.
  2. Pour the almond milk into the blender first, then add the pitted dates, frozen banana slices, chia seeds, and ground cinnamon.
  3. Blend on high for 60–90 seconds, until the dates and chia seeds are fully broken down and the smoothie is thick and creamy.
  4. Pour into a tall glass, dust with a little extra cinnamon, and drink right away while cold.

Notes

Note 1 : Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 1 day, or portion the frozen ingredients ahead for easy grab-and-blend mornings.
Note 2 : No unsweetened almond milk on hand? Any unsweetened plant milk (oat, soy, cashew) works the same way.
Note 3 : If your dates feel dry, soak them in warm water for 5 minutes before blending.
